Nepal Samvat: 1145 DILLAGA CHATURDASHI - 29
The Embassy, in collaboration with NRNA Scotland and more than two dozen community-based organisations, organised Nepali Mela in Edinburgh, Scotland on 23 June 2025.
The Hon Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice of the Scottish Government, attended the Mela as the Chief Guest.
The Mela began with a Parade starting from the Scottish Monument and reaching the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens.
The Mela was mainly organised to promote Nepal. It showcased Nepal’s rich socio-cultural heritage, Nepali cuisine, and cultural performance. It also served as a platform for fostering connections between people from Nepal and various other countries.
Over Three Thousand Nepali diaspora from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife, and other parts of the UK, attended the Mela, including scientists from the Royal Botanical Gardens, Edinburgh, tourists, businesspersons, artists, students, and media persons.
This was the first Mela ever organized by the Embassy in Scotland.
